Utilize ADB Wireless Debugging for Convenient Development

Published on 18 May 2026

ADB (Android Debug Bridge) Wireless Debugging allows developers to connect and debug their Android device over a Wi-Fi network instead of using a physical USB cable. Here's how you can set it up for convenient development:

  1. Initial Setup with USB:

    • Connect your Android device to your computer via USB.
    • Open a terminal or command prompt on your computer.
    • Type adb devices to ensure the device is detected by ADB.
  2. Enable Wireless Debugging on Device:

    • On your Android device, go to Settings.
    • Tap on About phone and find Build number.
    • Tap Build number seven times to enable Developer Options.
    • Go back to Settings, find and enter Developer Options.
    • Scroll down to enable Wireless debugging (for devices running Android 11 and above).
  3. Connect via Wireless:

    • In the same Developer Options menu, tap on Wireless debugging to enter its settings.
    • Tap on Pair device with pairing code.
    • On your computer, disconnect the USB connection and run the following command, replacing the IP_ADDRESS and PORT with the information shown on your device's screen:
      adb connect IP_ADDRESS:PORT

  4. Verify Connection:

    • Type adb devices on your computer again to verify that your device is listed and connected wirelessly.
  5. Keep Device Awake:

    • Within Developer Options on your device, enable Stay awake to prevent the screen from turning off while debugging.
  6. Development and Debugging:

    • You can now use ADB commands, deploy apps, and debug your application wirelessly using Android Studio or via command-line.

By following these steps, you can enjoy the convenience of debugging your Android applications without the need for physical USB connections.
